Our Story

There once was a hobbit that lived in a hole..

Every tattoo tells a story, and ours began with a chance encounter. In the early days, Thomas randomly walked into a tattoo studio seeking a sleeve from Deran — not just any design, but a tattoo inspired by his birth year. What started as a single appointment quickly blossomed into a lasting friendship.

Deran, following his passion, eventually opened his own private studio and offered Tommy an apprenticeship — even while Tommy was managing his bar. Tommy honed his craft, completing his apprenticeship at Blood Moon Gallery, building the foundation for a future in tattooing. Meanwhile, Deran moved away for nine years, but their friendship remained strong, proving that distance could not diminish their shared vision and love for the art.

Finally, in April 2025, their paths converged again, and The Prancing Pony Tattoo Studio was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. From that first sleeve to a thriving studio, the journey reflects a bond built on trust, artistry, and a shared commitment to creating tattoos that are personal, meaningful, and expertly crafted.
